2025 Turkey Bowl: A Fierce Competition!

From the earliest days of Aquinas Academy, the high school has battled for the honor of being crowned Turkey Bowl champions—and this year’s competition may have been the fiercest yet. The day opened with an all-school Mass, giving thanks to God for the many blessings He has poured out on our community.

High School

The high school gathered in the gym to watch the students’ hype/intimidation video for the legendary Students vs. Faculty showdown. Unbeknownst to them, the teachers had crafted a response of their own.

Fully energized, students and faculty boarded the bus to the Bubble to begin the football festivities.

High school students broke into their team colors and played a three-game round robin to determine who would advance to the championship. In the end, it was Aristoi (yellow) vs. Megistoi (green) for the boys, and Aristoi (yellow) vs. Kratistoi (red) for the girls.

Both championship games were hard-fought, but Aristoi emerged victorious in both divisions. Congratulations to this year’s champs!

 

Middle School

Middle Schoolers played an epic volleyball tournament between the Greek teams. Team Megastoi, entering bracket play as the No. 3 seed, fought with incredible grit—knocking off both the No. 2 and No. 1 seeds to claim the championship title. Their run, however, came to an end when they faced their toughest opponent yet: the teachers!

After a quick snack break, students headed outside for football—better known on this day as The Mud Bowl. With the field coated in mud (and with many preemptive apologies to parents handling laundry later), students gave it everything they had. As games wound down, a torrential downpour sent girls sprinting for cover while the boys used the storm as extra motivation, pushing harder than ever to take home the gold. The boys’ bracket came down to the very last play, where Aristoi edged out Kratistoi in a dramatic finish on the final play!

 

Students vs. Faculty/Alumni

Then came the main event: the annual Students vs. Faculty/Alumni game. The teachers have never lost this matchup, but the students were determined to change history. Each class took a quarter: Freshmen in the 1st, Sophomores in the 2nd, Juniors in the 3rd, and the Seniors anchoring the final push. The game was tighter than the faculty preferred heading into the last quarter, but with the help of beloved alumni, the teachers held their lead and preserved their undefeated record.

As the clock hit zero, one thing was clear: this was one of the best Turkey Bowls Aquinas has ever seen. Alumni returned in record numbers, students enjoyed a full day of camaraderie, and—most importantly—the teachers won again.
