Ladies Tennis Advances to WPIAL Finals

Congratulation to Doubles Partners Allie Swift (freshman) and Kate Gillespie (sophomore), as well as Maggie McBride (junior) and Lucy Fowler (senior) who placed second and third respectively at the WPIALS Regional Doubles Tournament on Thursday, September 26 held at Sewickley Academy.
This season is the first time Aquinas Academy has competed in Girl’s Tennis Doubles in a run for WPIALs.
Kate Gillespie and Allie Swift won the first two ProSets, 10-6, 10-6 against the Quaker Valley #2 and Carlynton #1. They then defeated their fellow Aquinas doubles team 6-0, 6-3 after going to deuce 6 times for match point with Kate serving. They lost to Quaker Valley #1 in the finals to finish 2nd overall.
Lucy Fowler and Maggie McBride won their first two ProSets, 10-3 and 10-5 against Hopewell and Keystone Oaks. After losing to their fellow teammates, they went on to win 7-5, 6-0 against Ambridge to place third in the tournament.
