Aquinas Celebrates LitFest Victories

We’re thrilled to announce that our students shined at this year’s Diocesan LitFest! This friendly competition, coordinated by the Diocese of Pittsburgh, puts students' reading and critical thinking skills to the test. Teams prepare for the event by reading and discussing the selected novels. At the competition, teams are tested on their critical reading of the books with trivia, puzzles, a drawing challenge, and even an impromptu podcast performance.
Our school sent 5 teams to the 7-8th grade competition and 7 teams to the 4-6th grade competition. After weeks of preparation, their hard work paid off in a big way:

Grades 7–8: A tie for 1st place by our 7th and 8th grade boys’ team, and a strong 2nd place finish by our 7th grade girls’ team!

Grades 4–6: A well-earned 1st place victory!
Antony Kolenc was the guest author at both LitFest competition days, and he spoke to the students about the creative writing process and the importance of Catholic education in his writing journey. He's pictured here with our 4-6th grade teams.
