Welcome from the President
As the first lay-founded and governed Catholic school in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Aquinas Academy is one of the great success stories in independent Catholic education. Since our founding in 1996 as a college preparatory school for students in grades PreK–12, Aquinas has emerged as a recognized leader in academic excellence and character formation. We have been blessed with remarkable growth — from 13 students in our first year to well over 500 today — while maintaining a strong Catholic identity, small class sizes, and a proven program for developing your child’s intellectual gifts and moral virtues.
We offer our students a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum in the Catholic intellectual tradition, covering all the major areas of the liberal arts and natural sciences and strongly grounded in the classic texts of western civilization. Our relatively small size and low student ⁄ teacher ratio ensure that each of our students receives abundant support to reach his or her fullest potential — whether in the classroom, on one of our 34 interscholastic athletic teams, in our award-winning drama and speech and debate programs, or in our many other student achievement opportunities. In short, we aim to form Catholic Christian leaders whose future accomplishments are of service to others and give glory to God, in a community marked by friendship and joy.
We hope you will visit Aquinas during the school day to experience first-hand our close-knit and welcoming community of students and faculty. Visiting our 14-acre campus and meeting our dedicated staff is the best way to learn about the many opportunities for your child to excel at Aquinas Academy. We look forward to your visit!
Peter Blume
